Please wait few weeks so I could make it more usable for matrox users.
At this moment you would not be satisfied with results as the image
would be "jumping" as timing code is not addapted for this device.
The idea behind avifile's mga_vid device is that 'read' operation
will wait until VBI occurs and then it'll draw new frame.
This'll make the image very clear - you might have noticed some
problems with redrawing when the scene in the movie is chaning quickly -
you could notice visual artifacts which are being caused by the screen refresh
at the wrong time - this means the screen is getting refreshed at
the time you are actually looking at the picture.
mplayer is using its own mga_vid driver (I've actually copyied most of the
code from this driver) - its using internal capabilities of MGA
to switch buffer automaticaly at vertical refresh time - however
this has the problem that Xv extension is lost for all other
applications so I'm not going to use this, because this is broken way.
Instead I'll extend capabilities of current driver and will remove
all unncessery code and probaly rename this driver too.
My plan is to use this driver for better timing then with
usleep - but you will have to wait a bit....
bye
