AX needs AD for authentication and Security Reasons.
Having 2 locations doesn't mean that you should have 2 domains.

Let's Suppose

You have 2 Domain + 2ADs at different locations

Having necessary setup's, in case of domain 1 is down, users are able to log
on to 2nd domain to use application, Which means both Locations have high
bandwidth connectivity.

If you have High Bandwidth connectivity Make it simple.

Just install one Domain + AD + one AOS of AX.

----------------------------------------

To connect AX client with multiple AX servers (AOS) change the server
details in Control panel => Administrative Tools => Microsoft Dynamics AX
Configuration Utility

I hope this summarize your Query.
