We don't want to do rpc/encoded in Axis2, JAX-WS does not mandate it,

have to do both Axis1 (for JAXRPC) and Axis2 simultaneously.
We actually have support for most of rpc/enc because rpc/enc is
actually
rpc/lit 90% of the time. We just have to enable it in the tools ..
(This rpc/enc vs. rpc/lit thing is a hole in the WSDL 1.1 spec ..)
So if someone wants to implement full JAX-RPC support on top of Axis2
its certainly possible. Any takers? Tom?? ;-)
It is indeed possible to have Axis1 and Axis2 in the same classloader;
but that's a tad ugly.
We've started implementing JAX-WS over Axis2: We have SAAJ support and
JAXB2 thru the RI data binding. The remaining work is substantial but
not that bad .. and several folks have expressed interest in
working on
it but so far it hasn't made huge progress. I guess we put that aside
for 1.0 timeframe; so its likely to get more effort soon.
Geronimo folks: what's your timing for JAX-WS support?
We don't really have a time-frame in mind yet.
I personally plan to keep working on EJB 3 (in OpenEJB) until it's
done. So the task doesn't really have any champions yet.
