for me, it's ease of use. I had to struggle with Sun's SDK for a while, and could not 
get it create a simple proxy for me. Axis on the other hand, was a breeze. maybe it's 
something to do with me being an idiot, but hey, if an idiot can use it without any 
hassle, then it must be good isn't it ? :)

I'm at JavaOne and so have not had a chance to download it. But it looks like Sun's 
wsjdk gives you everything you need to run web services on tomcat or any other 
application server.

In this case, what is axis needed for?
