Click on the island (in your case, Sao Miguel) and scroll down to N for
Nordeste.  You will see only 1 church listed for Nordeste, called Sao
Jorge.  The third column lists the years that the microfilm covers (1563 -
1884).

The 1902 immigration may be his best guess.  You'll also have to search 1901
and then 1903 and possibly keep expanding the the years, or try other
American sources to figure out the immigration date.  The 1900, 1910, 1920,
and 1930 censuses all ask for the immigration year (a sample of what is
asked on each U.S. Federal Census can be downloaded from Ancestry.com's
Learning Center for FREE: http://www.ancestry.com/trees/charts/census.aspx)
