Great place. There is also a Portuguese hall on the main street there also. At nearby Pidgon point there is an old light light house. If I'm not mistaken.there was also a shore whaling station on the coast nearby at one time. The area is definitely worth a days outing. Last time I was at Duarte's (in August, 2009) there were several pictures on the wall--sort of behind the entry door to the restaurant (not the bar). One was a "panororama" style--very long, don't know the proper term. It was a picture of some of the menfolk of the town. They were labeled with names! I found my grandmother's first cousin's husband who also happens to be buried in the cemetery there. I had never seen a picture of him. There were many Azoreans in the area at that time.
