Hi, Robin Nanci did a good translation work Here is how we do in portuguese: On the 3rd day of January, the year 1861, at 12 midnight, in Quebradas, of this parish of Sao Bartolomeu, church district of Angra do Heroismo, Angra, at the house nr. 364, died Gaspar, of unsure age, 13 & 1/2 months, left and given to Ana Custodia Candida, wife of Jose da Rocha de Borba, from this parish, and at the same day at 3 o´clock pm was burried this parochial Cemitery. To certify of this record, I sign Priest Joao Coelho da Madre Deus

(here it gets a bit unclear)......he's an exposto and the next word is either "intrigue or ?" of Anna Custodia Candida, woman of Jose da Roch de Borba of this freguesia and on this day at 3 in the afternoon is buried in the cemetary of this parish.....the rest is the usual conclusion. Perhaps this helps and others can clear up the "exposto intrigue" part...it could be entre que....but that doesn't make sense. Regards, Nancy From: beso...@succeed.net To: Azores@googlegroups.com Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Translations help - CCA site Date: Wed, 9 Jun 2010 01:37:37 -0700 I've found a death document related to my Borba side of the family and am wondering if someone can help me translate it? It's the first document on the left hand side of the page at the link below. It speak of my GGGGrandparents Custodia Candida and Jose da Rocha de Borba. http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/biblioteca_digital/TAHSBARTO1860-1869/TAHSBARTO1860-1869_item1/P8.html Here's what I have found on the CCA site for their marriage: 1849 Page 64 St. Bartholomew Indices of Marriage, so it appears they were married in 1949 and one dies in 1861? I do know one of their children was my GGGrandfather of the same name, Jose da Rocha de Borba born in 1850, St. Bartholomew of which I have a baptism certificate. Other than this one child, I don't know of any others. Thank you for your help!
