Yes, but isn't Karlushko also an uncommon one?


This is the entry in the Flores history book for the name:



*Nòia * - Com raízes na Galiza, este apelido já exista nas Flores em meados

século XVII. , vindo, não se sabe bem quando, da ilha de Porto Santo.  Um
tal



Bartolomeu da Nòia,  casado com Ana Rodrigues, faleceu em 1692 en Santa
Cruz,



onde, de resto, haveriam tambem de casar quatro dos seus filhos: Manuel
Rodrigues



Nòia (1688), Maria Rodrigues (1690), Francisco Rodrigues Nòia (1694), Agueda



Rodrigues (1696),  e João Rodrigues Nòia (1696). Por essa altura, o apelido
já



exista também  em Ponta Delgada, onde morava Belchior Gomes Nòia, casada



com Isabel Rodrigues, pais de Gaspar e de Maria Rodrigues, que ali casaram,



respectivamente em 1686 e 1689.







My family descends from Belchior Gomes Nòia.

 It is also found in Vila Franca, Sao Miguel from the mid 1600s, and in
Porto Santo, Madeira from  the 1500s.
