Roselyn, Forgive me for asking a question different from your request, but the name Silveira Machado caught my attention. My great grandfather was Manuel Silveira Machado. I have almost no information on him other than he was from the Western Islands. There is some belief that he came from Sao Jorge (or Sao Miguel). I have two possible dates for his birth- 1839 or 1833. And, its possible his father was Antone Machado. There is so little info that he's been a stumbling block of mine for many years. Very frustrating since I carry the Machado surname. If you are researching Joaquim Silveira Machado, is it possible that you have come across a sibling (or cousin) named Manuel ? Any light you can shed would be appreciated.
