Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help on starting our Azorean family history

I am excited to find this google group and am enjoying all the posts.
have felt inspired to research my husband's Azorean history for the
ast 10 years and haven't done much. I am amazed how little his
ather and aunt know (who are now in their late 80's). They don't
ven know what their grandparents first names were! We do know that
heodore (Theotonio) Martins (my father in laws father) was born in
an Bartolomeu, Terceira around 1886 and died 1935 in Patterson, CA
nd his wife Madeline Rocha was born in 1896 in Porto Judeo, Terceira
nd died in 1957 in Santa Clara, CA. I have gone to Family History
enters and ordered microfilm that my friend who is Portuguese could
ot even begin to make out (the scribble)
Anyone have advice on where to start? Is there a good way to search
assengers on ships that came over?...I can guess they came in the
920's but no idea how they traveled to California.
