Bob, By point A to point B you are asking how he got from Providence, RI to Merced, CA? Probably train. I don't think train (choo choo train) manifests exist. And the migration was within the country, not people from outside the country. The government keeps track of the outsiders from other countries. I know of a few Mormon wagon trail lists that exist, but 1920 was probably too late for the wagon.
