(Changed designtherapy to real name, Lorraine) Thanks for all the interesting discussion. I went online and checked some things. The Portuguese name for James is Tiago (close to Spanish Diego). So I think my grandparents weren't thinking about "James" when they named my father, they just wanted to name him Jaime and misspelled it Jayme. It was a short leap for my father to change from Jayme to James when he came to America. Thanks for all the help! AND ARE THERE WAYS TO LOOK FOR PEOPLE IN GRASCIOSA - marriage, birth, death records?
