Pam S, Once I get all my files transferred over, I can double check, but if I remember right, naturalization records before 1900 ask you to renounce your allegiance to your former country. They may or may not say where the man was from (women usually not included until 1920). Someone who has the information at their fingertips may be able to shed more light.
