Hi Karen, my dad who was born in the Azores played in the mainland in Lisbon on a professional soccer team called Belenenses. He also played for a team called Micalense in Ponta Delgada in his late teens. Later on when he was in his early 30s he played for the Lomba da Fazenda team in Nordeste. I have spoken with older folks Sao Miguel from that generation. They all tell me the same thing, that my dad Nicolau was probably the greatest soccer player to ever come from the Azores. This Ronaldo guy has nothing on him, but it was a much different era. Professional soccer back then was nothing like it is today. Just thought I would share. Herb
