First, I apologize that that my list of ancestors was posted to the board rather than sent privately to Joao; I replied from email and didn't notice that the reply address had defaulted to the entire Azores Genealogy group. I'm slowly getting the hang of this message board-- thanks for bearing with me. Yes, *Tenente* Ignacio Vicente de Mendonca. His first wife, Maria de Jesus, had an unusual and very poignant obit. I can post a link and my tentative transcription if there's interest. His second wife, also Maria de Jesus, was my ancestor. Over 40 years, he fathered about 15 children divided almost evenly between both wives. Many thanks for the DNA info. It's now on my to-do list.
