Hi Cheri,
I agree that I don't think the crests were any thing that were passed on in 
Azores and I have not seen mention of them in any research that I have done BUT 
I do remember that the first time that I went to Faial, there is a church there 
that has the family crests on the ceiling. I think it is Angustias.  I just 
googled it as I was typing here and found this:)
