Children were baptised after the fact many times. I have one set of parents that bapized 3 children at the same time! It was more common practice to baptize within a few weeks or even sooner. Sometimes the child was ill at birth, premmie or just small, and was baptized by the midwife then at the church later. Sometimes, the original book was destroyed and the baptisms had to be redone before marriage!
