please be aware of tape drive limitations and dont try to rotate tapes
indefinitely. you should only rotate tapes a few times if you intend on
using them for long term archival.

you really have a lot of options and you can determin them by the size of
your backups. if your backups are under 72GB then DAT72 is the obvious
choice because it is common, proven, and the tapes are inexpensive and the
drives are not to bad($300-$400)

if you need more you can get LTO drives which are twice as much money for
the drive, $35 for the tape, and hold 400GB uncompressed.

somewhere in the middle is the VXA-2 drives though higher end VXA-2 drives
can match LTO drives

what is your budget? how large are your backups?

consider that using a removable hard disk might be a better option for you.
you can put a drive in a hot-swap tray or even in a USB2 enclosure and get a
few big 500+GB drives. benefits are MUCH MUCH faster backups, MUCH faster
restores, nearly infinite reuse or rotation or disks, variable capacity so
you can get 120GB drives now and then when your data grows you can just get
bigger drives and keep the other drives around for long term archival.
