I think ver 4.x is WELL WORTH the upgrade - for several key reasons: 1. It gets rid of the reliance on hard links which makes it hard to transfer or backup the backups. The 3.x hard link method was "cute" but very klugey and cumbersome 2. It uses real full file md5sums which allows for much better checking of file integity 3.
