It's not really a political or policy problem. The thing is that some bacula users won't want to give access to the console to everybody (even with restrained access), because it costs time to maintain all users with passwords, or create firewall authorizations or VPNs to even reach the console. I gave my example, where it's even more complicated because there is currently no way of telling what is backuped in a server, except by taking all the forms, and then pray that the backup administrator has made no mistake in implementing them (he can make mistakes too).
So I think this would be usefull to have to ability to do it. Not have it activated all the time, just have an option to log all files backed up. I think it's legitimate for some server administrator to be able to log what the backup administrator has decided to backup on his server, because the two people may be different, and may not even be able to communicate efficiently, depending on the organization.
