It's easy : it's not the same people : We have a team of backup administrators, scheduling the backups, maintaining the libraries and tape drives, doing the restores, etc ... but have no real knowledge of what should really be backed up on a server (they just back up what they're told to).
And other teams which manage the servers, and would like an easy way of checking what's been backed up, without having to go asking the other team and with no access to bweb or bconsole. But I don't even see your point. I told you it would be useful in our organization.
