I don't know what could be causing this, but I can say that my
understanding is that the S3 driver is somewhat prone to causing
issues. For bacula 15.x+, it is recommended that one use the Amazon
driver instead. Despite the name, the driver does work with other
providers besides amazon. IIRC, heaps of providers are supported. The
biggest caveat that I ran into was that my Cloud {} resource needed
an additional variable because I (like you), am using a non-AWS cloud
storage provider. Because of this, I had to specify a BlobEndpoint
value. I believe without the BlobEndpoint value, the Amazon driver
assumes the files are located at an AWS URL and attempts to access
the buckets at AWS. I think the BlobEndpoint directive informs bacula
that it must abandon this behavior of assuming an AWS URL, and also
tells bacula which URL to use to find the volume. Why it cannot do
this from the hostname, I do not know.
See my bacula-sd.conf snippets, for an example.

Hello,
I'm using bacula-15.0.3 with the S3 volume storage using
DigitalOcean
Spaces. I've been doing this successfully for about 9 months
without any
issues. Today, I got an alert to mount the storage, which I've
never had
before with my configuration. The directory /var/spool/cloud is
really a
symlink pointing at /var/spool/bacula/cloud which is on a
separate disk,
and has been working fine. The permissions look correct to me.
This is
my cache disk. I'm able to access the volume via the DigitalOcean
console and I don't see any errors there. I'm at a loss for what
this
message means. I've tried using the mount command, which just
causes the
same error in the messages and I get another alert. I've tried
restarting services and also the entire server with the same
result. The
status.digitalocean.com <http://status.digitalocean.com> doesn't
show any issues. I'm not sure what else
I can try to do in order to get my backups running again or
figure out
what is causing this odd message.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you,
-Tom
