Wa Alaykum Salaam AbuSayeed, Good to hear from you. I appreciate your asking, because I am in a sort of quandary. I was ill for 3 weeks, getting sicker and sicker... fevers, chills and exhaustion. It got worse and worse, and I had some terrible symptoms. It's embarrasing but I had no bowel movements of any normal kind at all but there was this discharge like water. What was worse was that I couldn't control it at all. It was horrifying. I should have gone to the doctor then, but didn't have a way there, and so I tried probiotics and kefir. That didn't work, and the pain got worse and worse and worse. Honestly there were times I though I would not wake up. It's hard to explain, but my family just thought I was being weak.
Finally my doctor did a CT Scan (after I insisted something was wrong - his receptionist just didn't get it) and the next day I got a phone call saying to come to the hospital and be admitted for a surgical consult. They were worried they'd have to do a temporary colostomy too. As it turned out they didn't do a surgery per se. The radiologist did a 'procedure' where she drained a large softballed size abscess with a needle guided by CT Scan. She did a good job - I was horrified by how huge it was, and she told me if I'd waited much longer I could have died. It was very infected. The trouble is - the pain has not gone. It improved a little for a day or two, but then it got worse again. It also seemed to spread a little. It was in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen and behid my bladder. She said it was also sort of blocked by an 'intestinal hoop', but I'm not sure what she meant other than the ease of reach with the needle. My doctor seems sort of unconcerned, which worries be because he was before, too. In fact, he kind of forgot about the results of my colonoscopy 6 months earlier - at the time I mean. I asked about them and he said I was fine but I could tell he had forgotten - then showed me the photos. He said there was a large ulcer then. But I have diverticulosis... this was the 'litis' I guess. I asked if it could be crohn's disease (I saw that when I was looking for what it might be) Today he said, "Didn't you have a colonoscopy recently?" I told him six months ago - he said he would have seen it then. So that's good, I don't want that, but I cannot understand why it still hurts and why my abdomen is so swollen, and why I am still not having normal bowel movements. I'm supposed to go home tomorrow, too. Jazak'Allah Khair for the good wishes! I wish you well too! I hope your Ramadhan is going well!
