There's no problem running barrybackup as root, except that your backup
files will probably be stored under /root, or may have root permissions.
Since you are installing Barry from source, you will need to install the
udev rules manually. Copy:
udev/10-blackberry.rules # if you want charging
udev/99-blackberry-perms.rules # for permissions
to:
/etc/udev/rules.d
If your device shows 500mA in the "lsusb -v" list, then you only need the
99-blackberry-perms.rules file.
