My apologies, I was getting confused with something else

If you specify "reject_unverified_recipient" in the postfix config on the baruwa server, it will attempt to verify the existence of the recipient address on the downstream (zarafa or zimbra) server simply by 1st making an SMTP connection to it with a "probe" message attempt. If the user on the downstream server does not exist, then the probe message attempt will get rejected with "unknown user" at which point, MailScanner/Baruwa will reject the inbound message, otherwise, the message will be accepted, scanned and forwarded to the downstream server. As others have said, there is limited gain to be had by doing this. I do it simply because I can - a friend of mine lets the mail through to the downstream server where it will be rejected anyway

Regards
Chris

    I don't know specifically about zimbra/LDAP, but I have
baruwa/Mailscanner on one server and Zarafa on another. Recipient
checks are done through IMAP, so I would assume you can use
zimbra's IMAP facility to perform recipient checks

So if I am keeping it on separate box and zimbra on separate box
how can I have my recipient_checks configured in Baruwa? Can I
integrate it with zimbra LDAP so that entries will be picked up
    from zimbra LDAP.

Andrew - May be I am installing it on same server and that is why
it might be causing issues. let me try installing it on separate
server. I might need your guys help integrating with zimbra.
