If you want a mail alias to be defined for a person, simply add a
`mail-alias' field to their record. You may have multiple aliases for
the same person; simply separate them with commas.
If more than one person has the same mail-alias, then that alias
expands to the addresses of all of those people; in this way you can
maintain mailing lists within the BBDB.
Albeit, slightly brain-damaged (anachronistic at least) mailing lists.
You will screw anyone who wants to use MMDF and have real control over
their mail because you will force them to have a single email address
for every list that you support.
For example, I cannot have my entry on this list be
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and my entry on lemacs-beta be
[EMAIL PROTECTED] because Jamie maintains both lists and uses this
mail-alias approach. As a result, my mail sorting for Jamie supported
lists has to be at the level of old-fashioned text scans over the
message headers even though I've got support to distinguish among
different delivery addresses, i. e. the actual address which caused
the message to get to my account without regard to the content of the
message.
On all of my non-jwz lists, if someone replies directly to me and CC's
the list, the copy that's sent to me will be forwarded along to my
work address while the one that's sent to the list get's archived in a
folder in my CMU account. With jwz lists, I'll just get two copies
archived . . .
