Think I traced down the failure... My usual setup was to do a

make distclean && autoconf && ./configure && make bbdb gnus

after a CVS update.  But distclean does not (and probably should not)
delete lisp/bbdb-autoloads.el and somehow this file was newer than the
*.el files.  I've changed distclean into cvsclean now.

Well, I surely would have found some way around this problem, but I
was truly convinced that the error was caused by the recent CVS
commit.  I'll have a closer look on errors like this in the future,
sorry for the noise.
