Doesn't anyone else want this feature? Or do you all start by
opening files in the Finder, and/or 'prime' the Open dialogs in
some other way?
There are a couple ways you might try to fix this yourself.
One is to create a folder in your home folder with aliases to
desired directories. That way you can just command-H, double click,
double click and you're there regardless of the location of the
folder.
Another is to create a file group with the folders in it. Then
double clicking will bring up the disk browser and you can just drag
the image in to link to it. I have a file group of frequently
accessed files and folders and then a hot key in Keyboard Maestro to
open it.
Peter,
Thanks, although I work on 3-6 sites on 3 different machines,
aside from one-off editing on sites I don't regularly edit, so I
could keep a list of aliases in ~/ (or symlinks, more likely). But
that would require a nontrivial amount of manual maintenance, and
address perhaps 70% of the issue. The sites are quite hierarchical,
so I'm not sure if a file group would be suitable. I haven't used
Groups, though, and will try.
Thanks,
Chris
