Read a .reg file?

All,

I have a registry export (.reg) from NT that I would like to read via a perl
script.  When I create a file handle and print the file to STDOUT the data
is mucked up.  I've tried to read the data as binary vs. character, buy that
didn't seem to get me anywhere.  I've also tried to approach this as
unicode, but that also flopped.

Any ideas/suggestions out there?
