Yeh I definitely agree, but the first time I had to install 15 or so modules, many of which had 6-10 prereqs (see any module in Crypt:: ;-)), in a non-root environment I became a believer.

ON THE OTHER HAND

1) The auto-prerequi. is sooo nice...

2) CPAN shell is all fixed now...

No problem. Though whenever I want a throw back to the good ole days of Slakware, I just check out the latest copy of Enlightenment 17 and see if I can get it to run.... that usually sufficiently humbles me back into using CPAN ;-)....
