In the end, it really boils down to this: do I have access to all the software I need. Over the years I've used Solaris, I've always had to deal with building my own of a few packages and all of them a challenge that is not for the faint of heart. I dont mind what I need to type in front of the software name, as long as it downloads and run. Or even a self installation. In fact, if not already available from the install DVD, I prefer a self contained installer that I can download. See all the software that Sun packages, such as Sun Studio, Sun Web Server, netbeans, open office etc. BTW, some of the challenging software were Audacity, wine (although the latest actually compiles effortlessly but breaks a bunch of apps), Blender, mplayer with all the plugins and many more. Actually I never got blender working, but you get my point. Francois
