Thanks for testing and reporting. I am not sure whether this chipset is
properly supported. If the IOMMU is disabled then I/O will become sluggish.

The thunderbird errors can be worked around by the following:
su to root
spkg install SUNWlibcanberra SUNWltdl oxygen-icons
cd /usr/lib
ln -s libltdl.so.7 libltdl.so.3

To get full Gnome desktop do this
spkg install gnome2

The Oxygen Icons package is very large so I do not include it in the base
bundle. The default icons are Tango which is Gnome biased so some KDE
things are missing.
