I am not the developer of the software. I am a user of the software, and I moderate this Yahoo group.
I do not think Yahoo will change back to the old symbols, but emails from users such as yourself are the only thing that might encourage them to do so. Yahoo is meerly following the decision the exchanges have made to switch to numeric symbols. I do not understand why the exchanges have made this decision.
