can see their aplha type symbols.
Zee Telefilms Limited (Zee) (BSE:
ZEE.BO and NSE: ZEE.NS) is India's largest vertically integrated media and
entertainment company, with total annual revenues of INR 14.5 billion and total
assets as of March 31, 2004 of approximately INR 28 billion.
Interestingly, Yahoo will recognize the ZEE.BO symbol
for web pages such as
However,
If you enter ZEE.BO in Best Charts, you get nothing because that symbol is
not used by Yahoo in its historical quotes database, Yahoo is using
numeric symbols for BO exchange.
If you enter ZEE.NS in Best Charts, you
get charts because Yahoo is using alpha symbols for NS exchange.
The
above is true in older Best Charts 4.34 and also in latest Best Charts
4.40.
In order to download the historical data from Yahoo the
following url is sent:
http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/table.csv?s=505537.BO&d=4&e=14&f=2005&g=d&a=11&b=24&c=1993&ignore=.csv
note
the symbol 505537.BO in this url.
If we substitute ZEE.BO and
send
http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/table.csv?s=ZEE.BO&d=4&e=14&f=2005&g=d&a=11&b=24&c=1993&ignore=.csv
we
get an error because Yahoo will not use the ZEE.BO symbol for its historical
quotes.

Again, it seems obvious to me that the change has been made at
Yahoo, not in the Best Charts software.
