Ok - I'm actually good with the "X" being there too now that I realize when it would be helpful. I don't think it's the most intuitive button, but there are times when it would help. For instance, you might want to listen to the genre jazz, but not Miles Davis. You could hit play genre jazz, but then go to Artist->Miles Davis and hit the X to remove all of the Miles Davis songs from the playlist.
