Please look at my plugin, The Synchronizer. It does exactly this. It
allows you to define "sync sets", and select any of the mappings at any
time, or synchronize all players to one, or remove all synchronization.

I have 3 groups defined in my house, called "Front", "Back", and "Front
Back". Front is the living room and family room synched together,
bedrooms unsynced, Back is the bedrooms synced, LR and FR unsynched,
and Front Back syncs the LR and FR together, and the bedrooms together,
separately.

It's a little weak in that it always operates on all at once, so maybe
I'll update it to allow a little more control later.

It is, however, fully enabled for web, display, and controller control.
Groups must be defined through the web interface, but selection can
happen through any interface.
