I've been away for 3 months so I'm not up on the current state of things. But, having just jumped from SVN 30996 to 31431, I find that I now can't complete a scan of my music library. It seems to hang in the pre-caching artwork phase.
Also, even though I have -Settings->Advanced->Performance->Automatically Detect Changes- set to Disabled, I'm finding that scanner.pl isn't being spawned as a separate task and that scanning is being performed within slimserver.pl. Actually, when I kill slimserver.pl and manually delete the .db files and then restart the service, scanner.pl IS then spawned as a separate task. But not when a "scan for new" is initiated from the web UI. This is new behavior, isn't it? Any guidance as to how to get a scan to complete with recent code?
