winamp and WMP add composer by default. winamp just lost its connection
to gracenote this past month, and currently has no lookup until the next
ver comes out which will use MB, but I don't consider adding composer at
all unusual by big apps, be they ripping or auto-tagging. I would
suspect iTunes does as well, but idk.

that's fine with me, I was simply replying to what JJ said which seemed
to indicate there was no plan to ever alter anything under the hood.
maybe I misinterpreted what he said, or maybe I'm correct and you have
the intentions wrong, but either way I meant no insult, I meant only to
register my opinion.

which preference? please explain b/c I think maybe we totally
misunderstood each other?

no, not true. what I describe above is two modes. one would be
hardcoded album artists only (the closer of what we have today) and it
would be brief. the other mode would be configurable, called 'artists'
or 'all artists' by default, whichever you like, and would represent
whatever was configured in the options, so it would be possible for a
user to have it list, for example, ONLY composers, or ONLY artists, or
whatever combo, etc...

np. I'm not sure if what you've implemented will or won't be what I
asked for, but I think perhaps it is better at this point if I just zip
it at least until I test against a ver you want tested against.

I am using win7 64, is there a ver I can DL and try this out on? a ver
you want me to test against?

I am eager to test and help out and provide feedback, just tell me what
to DL.

and again, no insult was intended.

I'm not sure I follow what u mean, but maybe it will become clear when I
test it, but this sounds like why Phil (and I) have been saying that
compilation status should not be looked at when creating artist results
sets for any list, (other than a Home > Comps one obviously).

Using: Win7 64 and LMS 7.8 & Duet with ipads and the logitech app, and
ipeng on an ipod
