Yes, I agree about direct manipulation via shortcuts or
manipulators. But it seems people see buttons and forget the other
methods. Give them a mouse, and they forget tab key navigation, and so
on. The thread just demostrates it, and so do other points in UI
design, people are not informed about something or they forget, and
then "new problems" arise. *

So I would like to use this thread to advice any teacher or document
writer to give extra coverage to the fast methods and not just the
obvious ones.

*: Worst is if the problem is from creator side and not from user
side. I just found the redefinition of toolbar button appearance
"because gradients look bad". Consistency, common semantics, mouse
motion and clicking optimization, etc... blah, ranting again. Sorry.
