Interesting. I think Carc is excellent with 2 BUT not the Traders expansion. The goods rules are trying to "encourage" you to complete other people's features so that you can get the goods contained within. This mechanism kind of breaks down with 2 players and is better with more. As Drew suggests, I recommend Inns and Cath.; adds an excellent level of screwage with the big meeple and the cathedral/ inns, where you can plop the latter down in an awkwards place to deny you opponent the incomplete bonus at game end. My 2 player games always seem to be plenty tense!
