I played my first game of Battlestar Galactica on Saturday, and REALLY
enjoyed it. By the end of the game, I was thinking that it was a lot
like Arkham Horror, because the crisis cards in BSG reminded me a lot
of the Mythos cards in AH. I thought that the way the battles were
resolved using the cards was interesting and thematic, and even though
I've never seen the show and have very little understanding of it, I
thought that it captured the whole subterfuge of the Cylons working
subtly against the humans.

In the first half of the game, I was a human, and had a pretty good
idea of who the Cylon was at that time. I was Admiral Tigh, and had
the opportunity to throw said player in the Brig. I decided it was
too soon in the game to try that tactic, so I bided my time to see how
the player would keep playing. She just confirmed my suspicions.
Also, while I was a human, I had to decide between two fates on a
crisis card. At the time, it was less destructive to strip the
President of his/her (a guy playing the role of some woman with a
mental illness?) title, so I did that and moved her to the main ship.
It was more a choice of trying to keep the game together, not a way to
institute martial law in the game.

Now, after the halfway point of the game, I became a Cylon, and being
the President and the Admiral, I felt like all I had to do was bide my
time and do what I could to mess up the works. Since I was able to
select from the two destinations after the FTL jumps, I could pick the
ones that did the most damage, without revealing too much about my
plan. It turned out to be a bit tougher than expected, because morale
was critically low, and had I picked one that lowered it even more, I
would have revealed myself too soon. By the time I was ready to
reveal myself, the other Cylon player (the person I had originally
suspected) revealed herself and started doing some damage. I was all
set to reveal myself at the next turn, with a boisterous
MWAHAHAHAHA!!!, but morale dropped to zero on the turn before I had a
chance to do so.

It. Was. AWESOME.
