I International Conference on Multidisciplinary Information Sciences and Technologies, InSciT2006

Mérida, SPAIN, October 25th-28th, 2006

http://www.instac.es/inscit2006/

Dear colleague,

On behalf of the organizers, you are cordially invited to send abstracts of your best research for presentation at the forthcoming 1st International Conference on Multidisciplinary Information Sciences and Technologies (InSciT2006) that will be held in October 2006 in Merida (Spain).

Information Science is the interface of a number of scientific disciplines, all related to the diverse aspects of the information access, management, retrieval and usage. A number of approaches to the same object of study, the information, converge in this space: technological, mathematical, linguistic, and cognitive aspects as well as those related to the Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing or Human-Computer Interaction, organizational aspects and so on. All these approaches shape the wide range of domains which must interact in order to find the solutions to the problems we all face when deploying and improving these information systems.

InSciT2006, with a strong multi and inter disciplinary focus, aims at creating a forum in Spain where gather together researchers and practitioners coming from the widest range of knowledge domains involved in the study of information.

CONTRIBUTIONS

We seek submissions related to any aspect of information sciences and technologies, particularly those which link a number of topics included in the programme (see below). Research and Applications articles should be of high quality, reporting original research and contributions to information science research. Submissions must include a title and a 500 word extended abstract of the proposed paper. Abstracts will be refereed. An abstract template is available to help you produce your abstract as well as a submission form to submit it to the conference.

http://www.instac.es/inscit2006/submit.htm

Final papers will be published in the proceedings and presented at the conference. Papers may be in English or Spanish. Deadline for abstracts is May 1^th , 2006. Approval will be notified 10-15 days after abstract reception. Final papers (3000-4000 words) must be received in camera-ready form by June 30th, 2006.

CONFERENCE PUBLICATION - PROCEEDINGS

*Proceedings Book
*All accepted papers to be presented at InSciT2006 will be published as book chapters in the Conference Proceedings Book, which will be jointly edited by the University of Extremadura and the Open Institute of Knowledge. This volume will be distributed amongst the attendees during the conference. Furthermore, every paper will be published in the Open Digital Library, currently being developed by the Open Institute of Knowledge, and made available to be read on-line so as to maximize its international visibility and impact.

The title of the publication is expected to be "Current Research in Information Sciences and Technologies. Multidisciplinary approaches to global information systems" and it will contain an Interantional Serial Book Number (ISBN).

*International Journals special issues
*In addition, a selected number of accepted papers will be considered, under amendment / extension in order to meet journal requirements, for publication in several collaborating international journals, with which InSciT2006's Organization is currently reaching agreements. These set of papers, selected by the international advisory committee after the conference, will be of high-quality (break-through work) and a new round of a very strict review will follow. This is intended to maximize the international visibility and impact of papers presented at InSciT2006. Please refer to the conference website for details.

VIRTUAL SYMPOSIUM
The Virtual Symposium is intended for those researchers interested in participating but unable to attend to InSciT2006. Virtual participants will contribute submitting their presentations in a power point (PPT) compatible format that will be exposed at the computer area, located alongside the poster and surrounding areas. Virtual participation will be considered in the same way as the physical one, that is, each virtual presentation will have an associated paper published in the Conference Proceedings. Also, the full documentation set, including the proceedings as well as presentation certificates will be sent by post to their authors.
