About 4 years ago, I had two road bikes. One was a very light older
racing style Litespeed. I loved the way it handled, but it had no
clearance for bigger tires. My FIL bought his Romulus about the same
time and I became very curious over Riv and other older and extremely
useful bicycles. About the same time I bought a Sequoia that had
plenty of gears and tire clearance, but it handled nothing like my
Litespeed. I wish I had a bike that was the combination of the two.

I moved to Colorado in 05 and wound up selling both road bikes. I only
road my old beat up Univega mountain bike with slicks. I put a brooks
B-17 and Suntour thumbies on it and was quite happy with it. I mainly
just ran errands on it.

I just recently relocated back to CA and decided it was time again to
make riding a big part of my life. For some reason, I rode much less
in CO than I have anywhere else I have lived. About 3 months ago, I
began scouring CL, ebay, pawnshops, yard sales and anything else I
could think of to find an older nice steel frame. Well, just this last
week, my patience paid off. While on a business trip in AZ, I found a
Bridgestone 400 in pretty good condition with all the original
components. I bought it.

It will immediately get my Brooks B-17, a tall Nitto stem I have
laying around, some Shimano 105 brakes or maybe just get new shoes for
the bridgestone brakes, Pasela 27inchers and Cane Creek levers. If
anyone is selling a Nitto 177 Noodle 44-46cm bar, I am very
interested :)

For the time being, I will leave the drivetrain alone, just give
everything a good cleaning, polish and lube. I plan to commute, run
errands, and make recreational use of this bike. This bike will
improve my life on so many levels and I can't wait.

It's nice to meet all of you.
