I have a large Kleen Kanteen stainless steel bottle (I would advise against the Sigg since the lining flakes off around the threads, leaving exposed aluminum.) I also have a Nitto cage which caused rattling (not to mention future scratching of the bottle as it's slipped in and out of the cage, I'm sure). Solution: Buy a can of liquid rubber, the stuff used for dipping tool handles in to make them more comfortable/non-conductive/whatever. I found some at Home Depot. I comes in a variety of colors; I chose black. I poured some in a shallow foil tray to a depth of around 2" then dipped the cage in horizontally, front side down/removed/let dry/ redipped/etc. three times. It looks very un-DIY and completely stopped the rattling. If I get around to it I'll post a picture. On a related note: I miss being able to squeeze/squirt my plastic bottle, but the stainless steel bottle's clean taste, still after 10 months of use, is worth giving it up for.
