this is a little more expensive than Mike B.'s call for people to go to Cafe
Zoma last winter, but....

the Dairyland Dare needs help! (i.e. riders) The ride is this Saturday, the
16th.

"At this point I'm forecasting a
$10,000 loss for myself due to over investment, uncompromising
standards, too many volunteers (each paid $10 / hour toward their
favorite cause), and too much optimism of the demand for a high quality
event. I'm now a married man and my wife puts up with a lot, but
losing $10K after all our work on this event will make it pretty hard
to justify doing it again in 2009.

At this point, all my costs are
pretty much sunk. Each additional rider pulls me closer to break
even. I need 100 more of you to come out and enjoy yourselves at the
event."

--that's from Stew, the race organizer. He's organized a buncha rides in
western Dane and Iowa counties, he does a REALLY wonderful, thoughtful job. The
Dairyland Dare is a tough ride, but really fun! The scenery's fantastic and you
can take your time to enjoy it on a 66 or 100 km route. The rest stops are
stocked with very well thought-out food. And there's RP's Pasta at the
finish--can't go wrong with their food AND it's supporting another local.

If you register by midnight tonight (Tuesday) use the code PSSST15OFF for 15$
off. Each rider gets a t-shirt and pint glass, and about 20% of registration
fees are donated to the volunteer groups. It's a
win-win-ride-help-a-great-guy-out situation!
