=v= Coaster brakes are amazing in winter weather, but I
only have them some vintage folding bikes. Fortunately,
those are fun in winter weather as well, though I worry
about damage from salt.

=v= The older ones use oil (I have them on the very same
vintage bikes), and I've never had a problem with them
in the cold. Newer ones are packed with lithium grease.
My newer bike has an old Sachs 3x7 hub which has endured
all kinds of weather, including a flash flood.
