Stevens Point used to hand out gifts at Christmas to motorists who yielded to peds in the downtown. Don't know if they still do.

Anybody else remember that? Funny that. These days you get penalized by getting stuck at a good number of the lights when you go the speed limit. They seemed to be timed for something closer to 30 mph instead of the posted 25 mph. Back to the original topic: Maybe targeting people driving could be a new element added to next year's Bike Week. As much as I love getting freebies when riding to work, I do suspect that a lot of the activities only reach those who already bike frequently anyway.
