The Western Grebe and a non-breading Pacific Loon were seen today by many birders at around 8:00-9:30AM. Due to the location of the birds in relation to the sun, they were best seen from the end of Kelson Rd (pass the Conservation area entrance and take the next left). Both birds were showing well. The loon was not very active and the Grebe came fairly close to the beach (80m or so).

Directions to Fifty Point C.A.:

Take QEW Niagara to Fifty Road. Head toward the lake and take the North
Service Road around to the first road which
branches off left (sorry forgot the name). There is a sign here pointing to
the Conservation Area. Enter the Fifty
Point C.A. (there is a $5.00 charge) and follow signs to the marina or go
to viewing points out on the east side of the
park. You may also park at the end of Kelson Road and walk down to the
beach. The bird has been seen between the
marina and the DND property about 150 m out. Be patient, sometimes it
disappears.
