Mitchell Sewage Lagoons (now properly called West Perth Wetlands) have a good variety of shorebirds that can be well seen from the trails around the 5 lagoons. Today I saw

Semipalmated Plover
Killdeer
Lesser Yellowlegs
Solitary Sandpiper
Spotted Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper
Short-billed Dowitcher
Wilson's Snipe

Other birds seen included Black-billed Cuckoo, Great Blue Heron, Belted Kingfisher, Cliff and Barn Swallow, Song and Savannah Sparrow, Turkey Vulture, House Wren, Wood Duck, Hooded Merganser, Indigo Bunting, Common Yellowthroat, and Northern Flicker.

The lagoons are on the south edge of Mitchell. From Hwy 8 turn south on Wellington Street and go 1.6 km. The parking lot is at the back of the ballfield.
