Hello everyone: This report comes on behalf of Keith Lee (Tiny).

It will be sad when the little Marsh Wren leave. As usual as you enter the Wetland, the little birds are singing loudly.

Colin Griffiths reported Solitary Sandpipers at the Constructed Wetland and a Merlin as he was leaving the Wetland. The sewage lagoon on the north side of County Road 64 had 5 Bonaparte's Gulls - very nice indeed.

"Catfish", the only surviving Osprey chick is just magnificent. What a treat to have been able to watch such a creature as often as we wished. Today Tiny and I were standing together when Catfish took to the air flapping his wings continuously. Mom flew in and after a few cries to her youngster Catfish started soaring like her. What a totally amazing sight to watch Catfish and Mom soaring the skies.

Other sightings: Red Winged Blackbirds, many Mallard (some juveniles, some close to adult-like in plummage), many, many Tree Swallows (the juveniles appeared to be practicing their flying techniques - quite a sight indeed), Moorhen, once again seen as well as heard. I also had the chance (or honour) to see a Moorhen chick - a little bundle of black fluff staying very close to an adult. The Wood Ducks are really starting to get the adult look, Oscar the Trumpeter remains (alone), Many Lesser Yellowlegs, Chickadees, Gold Finches, Canada Geese, Song Sparrow, Mourning Doves, Purple Martin, Spotted Sandpipers, American Widgeon, Virginia Rail (nice treat to see this one too), Blue-wing Teal, Blue Jays, Pied-billed Grebe, at least one Least Sandpiper (Maureen Riggs). I had the luck to see the 8 cygnets that have been kept from view since mid June. They are beautiful and very healthy looking.

The Brighton Constructed Wetland is a great place to visit. Come and join us. The Constructed Wetland will be open Saturdays 8:30 until 10:00am until further notice. Tiny (Keith Lee) will let everyone know if and when the time changes.

WOW, What a place!

Directions: The Constructed Wetland is located at the SE corner of
Brighton. From Hwy 401, take the Brighton exit 509 (Hwy. 30) and follow
it south into town. Go south through the two traffic lights, over
the railway tracks and follow the main road, now called Prince Edward
Street, south. About 1 km south of the tracks, the main road begins
to swing to the left and becomes Cty. Rd. 64. As this long turn
ends the Constructed Wetlands appear on the right side.
